RecordSetter is a New York company and proud of it. That’s why we display the ‘Made in NY‘ badge on every page on the site, and it’s also why we’re very proud to announce that we are an API provider for the 2011 NYC BigApps 3.0 competition.
What is NYC BigApps?
BigApps is a series of competitions run by the City of New York to encourage greater tech involvement in the city. In this round they’re getting developers involved- giving them access to government data and asking them to make some cool apps with it. They’re providing an absolutely massive dataset that goes all the way from subways to filming locations and everything inbetween. Add in partnerships with a ton of NYC-based tech startups like Foursquare, Meetup- oh, and RecordSetter- and you’re in API mashup heaven. Oh- did we mention that the winner gets $10,000 and the chance to demo at the NY Tech Meetup?
How can I use the RecordSetter API?
At RecordSetter we’re all about personal achievement and competition. Maybe your app has a competitive element. Rather than have a high score board, why not have people competing to hold a world record? Let’s make a whole new group of New York record holders. Most NYC landmarks checked in to, perhaps? Most NYC basketball courts slam-dunked? Maybe you could track the longest bike ride in NYC using the bicycle data sets- the possibilities go on and on.
What else do I need to know?
Get out there and make some apps!
