This past week Radio Station K-Rock 89.3 in New Minas, Nova Scotia completed their 3rd Annual World Record Week lead by DJ, Mel Sampson. The results included the breaking of two records that were originally set on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, frozen waffles, cardboard towers, and more. Read on for a glimpse into the life of a Canadian radio DJ; and one of our favorite record setters.

Most Frozen Waffles Stacked In Two Hands
Originally set by Isla Fisher on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Mel showed no fear as her hands became icy from holding 73 frozen waffles. It’s safe to say the office enjoyed this one…those waffles didn’t go to waste.
Most Questions Asked During A Single Drive-Thru Visit
This was more than just “can I get fries with that.” Mel was able to befriend this friendly drive-thru associate and asked almost 100 questions. The result of which is a pretty hilarious and strange conversation.
Largest Cardboard Tower Cartwheeled Into While Live On The Radio
What started as an attempt to beat the world record for Largest Cardboard Fort, ended in the creation of a new record just as fun. Great example of the result of perseverance and hard work.
Most People Giving The Weather Forecast At Once On Live Radio
How many people does it take to give the weather? 12 according to K-Rock 89.3. Could it be done by less? Or course…but that’s no fun.
Longest Office Chair Daisy Chain Pulled By A Golf Cart
Originally set on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Mel got the Mayor of Kentville, Nova Scotia to pull 22 folks in office chairs with a golf cart. Is your town this cool? Probably not.
Three World Records Waiting to be Set:
- Most Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes made in 1 minute
- Longest time juggling while standing on a box
- Most people crammed in a Golf Cart at the same time
